You have got to be kidding me! How dare Ms Joy offer this as the 4th book in what was once a delightful, well-written series! A short story? Really? This is what we get after patiently waiting and re-reading the 1st 3 novels? What have you been doing with your time? This book could have been great if Ms Joy had taken the time to flesh it out. Instead, she cut so many corners that she should be ashamed of calling herself an award winning author. What, no suspense as to how Soosha manages to escape the familiar homeworld? No cat and mouse games as her mate attempts to mate her? And what about how Traed and her brother's journey through the mud world is supposed to take days in order to reach the next portal, yet they show up 1 day later? Ms Joy can't even get her timing right. And trying to hint that Yaniff was somehow involved by throwing in that ridiculous basket scene at the end.... Obviously, the years of fighting a lawsuit against her former publisher have taken their toll on Ms Joy's talents. Thank goodness Amazon presented these latest offerings from her at such a reasonable price.Product details

I love most of Dara Joys books, but this one is what I call fantasy light. Not much mystery, action or character interactions compared to her other work. It mostly concentrated on the romantic story line and a bit more on erotica style genre.
This is still my most favored of the Matrix of Destiny Books. Having read it for the third time -- a fabulous beach read --- if you DO "color up from the heat level" people will think its the temperature! It's a fun, hot, romantic read.
Not as good as the other matrix of Destiny books. Somewhat disappointed in this book. Hope duties books in the series are better
I thought this book would be Traden's story, but it wasn't. The couple in the book were briefly dating then mated. It took no time at all, the other part of the story just ended without any more information. The book just ended. Therefore, I was disappointed with this novel. However, I am glad I read it because it provided more insight to the upcoming battle.
The cover art was so repulsive that I almost didn't buy the book.
I enjoyed the earlier books in the series, but I kept passing this one up just based on the cover. Yes, I know, I judged the book by its cover.
So this year, I finally broke down and bought the book.
It wasn't bad, it wasn't great. It ended abruptly. I turned the last page and thought to myself "that's it?"
I won't be in a rush to buy the next book in the series.
I ordered this book and discovered the cover to be repulsive. This was the first book that I purchased and had to cut the cover off prior to reading it. On the cover was a picture of a man with weird colored eyes and hair like Medusa. There was nothing about this picture to epitomized or evoked one's imagination of what a sexy, strong, and alluring male Familiar would look like. The cover featured on shows a rather unattractive woman standing in front of a very sexy man. This cover is more tolerable than the one I received; Dara could have made the female Familiar more attractive, since readers have been waiting forever for a good read about a Familiar women. Enough about the cover. After reading the first few pages it was easy to fathom what the story was about. The story line was written in such a way that the reader is not inspired to look forward to the next chapter. To put it simply the story had a phlegmatic start, feeble climax, and ended with an air of exaggerated self-opinionated male confidence, that overshadowed the female character in the story.I would have liked to have seen a Familiar women who was intellectually warrior minded, quick witted, strong yet feminine, possessing some type of physical and psychological ability other than enjoying a good run.
I really enjoyed the first three better, but none the less still a good read. The only thing I really don't like is the women are pushovers in bed! When I say No I mean No! I don't care if I am attracted to you or not. I feel like if you love me or care about me at all... Listen To Me! That is still a form of Rape in my mind. I have a hard time with it. The man can be still be a very strong Alpha without this element.
On another note... I really want TRAED's book! And please don't disappoint with a push over woman. He needs someone to excite, push, and challenge him! I don't care how tall or short she is, but she needs to be TOUGH! Just because you have a strong heroine and an Alpha Male does not mean you can't have passion and love!!! Keep writing!!! Just take your readers comments into consideration. I still gave the book 4 stars because I am still very interested in the family and the things to come.
