One Night in the Ice Storm eBook Noelle Adams

Rating: 3 1/5

Summary: I won't give that since it can easily be read when you pull up the book.

My Sum-Up Summary: Rachel was once in love with her brother's best friend. He was her first love, her first lover, her first heart-break. For unknown reasons when she was seventeen David broke her heart and left her acting as though everything was fine. Naturally, nothing was fine with her.

A day or two before Christmas he shows up at her mother's house to pick something up but winds up getting stuck there with her during the storm. Being alone and stuck together brings their feelings for each other to the forefront and changes the dynamics of their eight year separation.

The Pros: To start out the short novella had several good points. The characterization, though limited, was there. The Hero and Heroine were both likable characters with no real redeeming qualities needed. The story, albeit short, was a full circle and didn't end with a cliff-hanger. It's a light, partially fluffy read. It's predictable.

The Cons: It is in that last pro given about the novella that the first con can be introduced. In being predictable ONitIS creates so many unsatisfactory points. It's predictable that she was in love with her brother's best friend; predictable that David broke her heart; predictable reasons for why he broke her heart; predictable that they reconciled sexually before verbally. The amount of predictability is very high and at times annoying. The top annoying predictable feature of this read was when the heroine easily sleeps with the hero, and then tries to play it off as if it all meant nothing. Perhaps--no, not perhaps, I find all of that disturbing on a personal level. As someone who doesn't believe in playing games when it comes to relationships I had a hard time accepting that she just slept with him before talking to him about why he dumped her years ago. He at least owed her that. It annoys me to no end when the heroine of a story drones on about how he broke her heart and hurt her, how she isn't over what he did, and how she'll never love him, trust, or fall for him the same way again, but does exactly that without reconciling anything with the hero of the story before she does.

Other cons were in her brother knowing the secret, but never telling her what it was after eight years and blaming her for breaking the hero's heart. WTF? The hero never trying to explain to her within any time of those eight years why he broke up with her when he clearly could have. Lastly, how easily everything was solved.

Considering the pros and cons of the novella and my level of irritation while I read it, I had to give this ONitIS a 3 1/5 for being well written with likable characters.

One Night in the Ice Storm eBook Noelle Adams Reviews

It was an interesting but also sad story til the end. Rachel was crazy over David, he was best friends with here brother. She followed them around when they were younger. They got into a relationship when she was seventeen and him nineteen. He started dodging her. It is ten years later and get stuck at her Mother's together. She finds out after she acts like it didn't mean anything that her Grandfather had threatened him to leave her along. They both thought that the other didn't care till her brother told her what happened
4.5*

I went into this expecting a sweet little second chance romance, with maybe a touch of angst because of how things ended between Rachel and David when they were teens. What I didn't expect was the tears and for my chest to hurt so much from the pain they were both suffering! What a terrific novella this is- all the feels and emotions packed into a short story that can be read in less than two hours. I love when an author is able to convey such emotions and can really draw you into a story, and have you completely invested in it, in such a short amount of time and words.
3.5 stars

This is the second novella in the One Night Novellas series. Take away the cheesy title and I think I liked it better than the first. Let me state that each novella is a stand alone so you can pick them up in any order and enjoy.

This story is extremely predictable but for some reason I really liked it. I think that maybe it was the characters that did it for me. I really, really, really liked David with his take charge attitude and his softer, caring side. He's exactly the type of person I would want to be stuck with if I were in that situation. Thank goodness I have a husband that fits that bill!

As with all novellas, you can easily finish this story in one short sitting just like I did. If you are running short on time and are looking for a quick second chance romance, this novella will do the job. I thought it was a cute and entertaining story. I think I will continue on with the rest of the series to see if they are just as much fun.
I really liked this story, mainly because there were some sweet moments and some sad moments. I felt sorry for what happened between Rachel & David and even upset about the why and who interfered in their lives.

Personally, I don't care much for grudges and bitterness. I think it's a waste of time when you let such feelings rule you, or rule your life. Especially when it's been years, and no one has bothered to talk about what caused the problem in the first place. However, they tend to make for good story plots--you know, get things started--helps the story flow.

Rachel was hurt by her brother's best friend, David when they were teenagers--of course we find out later that there's actually more to the story. Eight years or so later, these two become trapped at her mother's house during a snowstorm. First there's some serious
snarkiness and animosity brewing on Rachel's end that makes me actually feel sorry for David, even though through Rachel's accounts, he's the one who broke her heart. Then it's like she totally forgets all of why she's so angry with David and they share a steamy night together. Ok, so at this point I'm thinking confrontation & reconciliation--they can finally talk about what happened & move on. But nope...she practically shoos him right out the door before the ice has a chance to melt properly...damn!

And her brother!! Ugh! I know he promised David, but HE should have told his sister what really happened back then. After she graduated high school, I would have let that cat right out of the bag!! Heck David should have told it!! All this time still carrying a torch for her, never saying a word about why he did things the way he did?! But such as it is!🙄

Finally, I was happy for them because I felt that David caught a bad rap all those years ago, and Rachel's feelings were crushed in the process.
